Overview

The 29th Paju Jangdan Soybean Festival unfolds under the theme “Clean Paju, in Step with Jangdan: Alkong Dalkong,” across four concepts: Jangdan 300, Alkong Dalkong, Nolkong, and Salkong. Meet Paju Jangdan soybeans managed with a production traceability system at the exhibition hall and specialty shop, and enjoy freshly made tofu and local dishes crafted with Paju produce.

There are both free and paid hands-on programs for all ages—mini-meju making, soybean threshing, and Jangdan soybean frying—alongside performances such as traditional outdoor theater and a song festival. At the farmer-run traditional market, you can buy trustworthy Paju agricultural products straight from the source.

Impressions (Planned Visit)

Today is November 6, 2025. The Paju Jangdan Soybean Festival runs from Friday, November 21 to Sunday, November 23, so excitement is building in the lead-up. I’m getting ready and looking forward to it. I’ve heard the 29th Paju Jangdan Soybean Festival, themed “Clean Paju, in Step with Jangdan: Alkong Dalkong,” is being prepared with even more care than previous years. From Paju produce imbued with the spirit of local farmers at the traditional market, to the silky taste of tofu and traditional kimchi, to the experience of mashing boiled soybeans to make meju—there will be plenty to engage the senses.

This festival goes beyond simply displaying and selling produce. It’s packed with experiences for the whole family—traditional outdoor theater, a Jangdan Soybean Song Festival, mini-meju making, and soybean threshing—that will have you laughing and moving your hands in delight. Another welcome change is the focus on environment and safety: reducing single-use items, enhancing accident prevention, and improving amenities such as footbath seats and wheelchair rentals. With sunset light perfect for photos, I plan to check the performance schedule in advance and map out my route.

Soon the fields of Paju will glow golden in the autumn breeze, and the nutty scent of soybeans will fill Imjingak Plaza. Imagining children’s laughter and the gentle bubbling of tofu pots, I’m ready to take it slow, stroll, and enjoy the day.
