Haeundae and Gwangalli, Busan’s signature beaches, attract millions of visitors every year and are hotspots of vibrant energy. The sparkling white sands and refreshing water play are just the basics during the day, but once the sun sets, the dazzling lights of Gwangandaegyo Bridge and the surrounding buildings create an even more thrilling night seascape.
On a summer night when the heat has eased, follow the lights stretching across the sea and the sound of the waves as you walk along the shore, and the unique nighttime mood of Busan—blending laughter and music—naturally seeps in. The coastal trails connecting Haeundae and Gwangalli, Dalmaji Hill, Dongbaekseom Island, and other scenic viewpoints all come together to offer a night sea journey where you can feel passion, youth, and coolness all at once.
Program Information
This course follows the theme street along Gwangalli Beach, beloved for its fine sand and diverse festivals. Walk the street that runs along the 1.4 km stretch of sand while enjoying both the night sea and the illuminated Gwangandaegyo Bridge.
Located on Dongbaekseom Island at the southern end of Haeundae Beach, now developed as a park, this route takes you along a coastal trail where camellia and pine forests blend together. In the unique atmosphere of an island connected to the mainland, you can enjoy the sea, forest, and city night views all at once.
This course lets you experience the night sea at Haeundae Beach, known for its 1.5 km stretch of broad sandy shore and gentle waves. The gradual depth of the water, soft sound of the surf, and the surrounding building lights combine to create a perfect night walking path along the beach.
Nicknamed the Montmartre of Busan, Dalmaji Hill is a scenic road overlooking the blue sea, sandy beaches, and camellia and pine forests at a glance. Counted among the Eight Scenic Views of Busan, it offers a refreshing, wide-open view over Haeundae and the night sea.
Gwangalli Beach is easily accessible by public transport: get off at Gwangan Station (Line 2), exits 3 or 5, and walk about 10 minutes.
Haeundae Beach is about an 8-minute walk from Haeundae Station (Line 2), exits 3 or 5. If you check the subway’s last train time in advance, it’s easy to enjoy a night stroll without worries.
The Dongbaek Park coastal trail is about 950 m long, making it ideal for a light walk. The Choi Chi-won historic site, Nurimaru APEC House, and the mermaid statue are nearby, making it a good spot for photos.
The Dongbaek Park trail is a relaxed walk you can complete in around an hour.
If you’re into photography, it’s worth visiting both Nurimaru APEC House and the nearby mermaid statue area.
Trip Impressions
My first impression of Busan’s night sea was calmer than I expected. The quiet harmony of the night sea and city lights was striking, and the mix of tourists and locals along the beach felt very natural. The glow of the food stalls and the boats floating on the water created a picture-perfect scene, and with every step I took along the gentle waves, I felt a small sense of ease filling my heart. The cool sea breeze and people’s laughter blended together, making even the night air feel soft.
The area centered around the night sea is quite expansive, yet the main hubs, bridges, and walking paths are situated close enough together that getting around isn’t difficult. Most of the trip was spent walking while enjoying the night views, riding cable cars, and sharing sashimi and seafood skewers from food stalls. Parks and benches are scattered throughout, making it easy to stop, sit, and simply gaze out at the sea. There are many standalone villas and residence-style accommodations with sea views, and with conveniences like Wi‑Fi, parking, and simple kitchen facilities well in place, staying out late into the night is not inconvenient at all.
The itinerary works well as a 4–5 hour plan: arrive in the evening, enjoy the night view, look around the food stall street, and then rest at your accommodation. With buses and trains converging on the central area, the location is quite accessible, and for those traveling by car, roadside parking near accommodations or small parking lots didn’t feel too burdensome. It was such a satisfying trip that I’d love to return, but be aware that during peak season or on weekend nights, the food stall streets can be quite crowded, which may feel a bit noisy if you’re seeking quiet. Even so, for anyone who wants to feel cool sea air, youthful energy, and a touch of excitement all at once, Busan’s night sea remains a destination worth recommending.

Getting There
Public Transport — Take Busan Subway Line 2: for Gwangalli Beach, use Gwangan Station, exits 3 or 5; for Haeundae Beach, use Haeundae Station, exits 3 or 5, then walk. It takes about 8–10 minutes from each station to the beach, so it’s relatively convenient to move around even at night.
By Car — Public parking lots and hotel parking are available around Haeundae and Gwangalli beaches, but they can get crowded during festivals or on weekend nights. If possible, arrive a bit early to finish parking, and then continue on foot afterward.

The route connecting Haeundae and Gwangalli Beaches, Dalmaji Hill, and the Dongbaek Park coastal trail offers plenty of time to slowly soak in the night scenery where bright lights, cool sea breezes, and gentle waves all come together.
As you walk along the sea under the city lights, you’ll notice your mind becoming a little lighter. On days when you want to put everyday life on hold for a while in a beach atmosphere full of passion and youth, a night sea walk in Busan will be a good reason all on its own.
