The Jangseungpo Port Year-end Fireworks Festival is a free fireworks event held every December 31 at the Jangseungpo Port Waterfront Park area in Geoje-si, Gyeongsangnam-do. A multimedia fireworks show, performances, New Year-themed experience booths, and a car-free Fireworks Street come together in a variety of side events that light up the last night of the year.
Fireworks and night illuminations over the waterfront park facing the sea, together with local cultural and artistic performances, create a place where you can look back on the year and share hopes for the New Year with your loved ones. Citizens and travelers stand shoulder to shoulder, feeling a special sense of emotion in the atmosphere of the winter sea.
Program Information
A variety of local cultural and artistic performances, including trot and band performances, are planned. It’s a great way to ease into the festive mood with music on the last night of the year.
The official opening ceremony at Jangseungpo Port marks the real beginning of the year-end fireworks festival. The emcee’s hosting is accompanied by messages of encouragement toward the coming New Year.
A multimedia fireworks show combining music, video, and various special effects will adorn the sea before Jangseungpo. With a three-point fireworks display, it tells the stories of hope, love, harmony, and leap forward, brilliantly coloring the sky and sea.
After the fireworks show, small-scale performances, including band busking, will continue. You can slowly cool down from the excitement of the festival while listening to music in the lingering night air.
Five experience booths will operate, including tarot readings, New Year wish keyring making, and doll and kaleidoscope crafting. It’s not just a festival to watch with your eyes, but a place where you can take part yourself and create your own memories.
The car-free Fireworks Street section is enhanced with night illuminations, making it a safe and leisurely place for a stroll. You can also tie up wish notes for the New Year and share your hopes with the people you care about.
The Sharing Warmth Shelter, prepared for the cold winter night, offers a place to warm up and take a break. It is especially useful for families with children and visitors staying for a long time.
Promotion booths with a wide range of tourist information about Geoje, along with prize events, will be in operation. It’s a good chance to plan your next trip to Geoje while enjoying the festival.
The fireworks start around 7:28 p.m., so if you arrive in time for the pre-show performances and secure your spot, you’ll be able to relax and enjoy the show.
As many visitors come to this festival, it’s best to use the free shuttle buses and check traffic control sections and temporary parking lots in advance when planning your route.
Because of the coastal environment, it can feel much colder than the actual temperature. Bringing hand warmers, gloves, and blankets, and checking the Warmth Shelter location in advance will help you enjoy the show more comfortably.
Using the free shuttle buses can ease parking concerns.
With hand warmers and a blanket, even long viewing times will feel much more comfortable.
Visit (Planned) Impressions
Today is December 11, 2025, and with about 20 days left until the Jangseungpo Port Year-end Fireworks Festival (scheduled for 2025-12-31), I’m getting ready to visit and letting my expectations run high. The festival is set to take place in the Jangseungpo Port Waterfront Park area in Geoje, and I can already picture the fireworks bursting through the darkness beyond the horizon, merging beautifully with the rippling silhouette of the sea below. Thinking about the pre-show performances that will lead from the festival entrance, gradually gathering the atmosphere into one with lights and music, even the late afternoon air feels a little different.
A colorful lineup of programs awaits, from the upcoming opening ceremony and full-scale fireworks production to the post-show performances, along with experience booths that promise not only things to see but the fun of taking part. Imagining the feel of the crisp, clear winter night air as the fireworks explode—the smell of gunpowder, people’s gasps, and the sea breeze mixing and reaching the very surface of my skin—makes this moment, which has not yet arrived, already feel nostalgic. Since it’s a festival by the sea, I also think it would be best to arrive not too late, walk through the venue once to get a feel for the layout, and pick out a favorite viewing spot in advance.
Because the festival is held in a waterfront park right next to the sea, the lights will gently reflect on the night sea along every path, with the sound of waves like background music setting the mood. There will likely be warm drinks and winter snacks like roasted chestnuts scattered throughout the venue to ward off the cold, and I expect the sight of people’s laughter and greetings, families and couples holding hands and looking up together at the fireworks-lit sky, will remain as an unforgettable scene. There will probably be many moments I’ll want to capture in photos, so I plan to bring plenty of battery and storage space.
