Under the theme “Oncheoncheon Love Song (Yeonga),” various light installations are illuminated daily from 17:00 to 23:00, offering a special winter nightscape as the lights spread over the flowing water.
The festival space is divided into six themed zones: “Prelude of Light,” “Song of the Seasons,” “Fantasia,” “Oncheoncheon Love Song,” “Delicious Harmony,” and “Song of Lanterns,” sequentially capturing traditional culture, seasonal themes, and futuristic moods. On the opening day, Friday, December 19, at 17:00, a lighting ceremony will take place on Oncheoncheon in front of Suan Elementary School, and through Wednesday, December 31, citizen-participation programs such as artificial snow experiences, busking performances, and media wish-writing will continue at Snowflake Plaza under Exit 4 of Dongnae Station. A food truck zone will operate around the Big Tree Rest Area, where you can enjoy warm food and drinks and create unforgettable winter memories with family, partners, and friends.
Program Information
Lights are staged along six themed zones: “Prelude of Light,” “Song of the Seasons,” “Fantasia,” “Oncheoncheon Love Song,” “Delicious Harmony,” and “Song of Lanterns.” Enjoy the nighttime scenery of Oncheoncheon as you experience, in turn, traditional culture, the seasonal atmosphere, and futuristic moods.
Various light installations are set up along an approximately 1.1 km stretch of Oncheoncheon and are illuminated daily from 17:00 to 23:00. Lights reflected on the water and illuminations lining the walking path come together to create a romantic night view.
The lighting ceremony marking the opening of the festival will be held at 17:00 on Friday, December 19, on Oncheoncheon in front of Suan Elementary School. You can feel the start of the festival firsthand as the first lights switch on.
An artificial snow experience program will operate at Snowflake Plaza under Exit 4 of Dongnae Station during the festival period. It’s a great place to visit with children, as you can enjoy a snowy winter atmosphere together with the lights of Oncheoncheon.
Busking performances will be held around Snowflake Plaza, allowing you to enjoy a special night walk where music and lights harmonize. Songs and instrumental performances echoing under the lights will further enrich the winter night mood.
To celebrate the year-end and New Year, a media wish-writing program is prepared where you can write and share your personal wishes. In the nightscape of Oncheoncheon, it becomes a meaningful time to look back on the past year and prepare for the new one.
A food truck zone will operate around the Big Tree Rest Area, where you can enjoy light snacks and drinks. It’s a pleasant place to pause during your walk, warm up, and soak in the festival atmosphere even more deeply.
Since the festival runs from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m., it’s best to plan an evening visit so you can stroll at leisure after sunset.
Because the themed lighting zones are connected in sequence, checking the start and end points in advance will help you enjoy the whole course without accidentally skipping any sections.
Media wish-writing and popular experience programs can get crowded later at night, so visiting a bit earlier will allow you to enjoy them more comfortably.

The 3rd Oncheoncheon Light Festival in Dongnae-gu, Busan, is said to transform an approximately 1.1 km-long walking path into six themed zones of lights under the theme “Oncheoncheon Love Song (Yeonga).” The journey from “Prelude of Light” through “Delicious Harmony” and “Song of Lanterns” feels like being carried along by a flow of emotions, as if surrendering yourself to music. The quietly glowing streetlights under your feet, the lights reflected in the ripples, and the changing colors of the illuminations in each theme zone brushing your hair in the breeze all stir a sense of anticipation.
This year in particular, the newly prepared media wish-writing and lantern installations catch the eye.
