Impressions (Planned)
As of November 5, 2025, Namdong Street of Light—running from October 22, 2024 to December 31, 2025—is in full swing. When the first lights flickered on across Namdong-gu’s dark streets, it felt as if a small universe unfolded before my eyes. Lights twinkled on every tree around Mansu Stream, an LED aurora floated softly in the dark, and tunnels and photo spots strung along like guides bathed faces in warm yellow and pink. A cool breeze brushed the tip of my nose, the air wrapped gently around my back, and along with the glow of the lights came a sense of warmth.
In the evening, when street performances were in full swing, a strand of guitar or the notes of the gayageum rang out from the busking stage, blending with the reflected glow to create a subtle resonance. Shops and alleys that were ordinary by day were awash in light by evening, making it feel like the boundary between day and night had blurred—a little bit of magic. The lights usually run from 18:00 to 24:00, and the venues are around Mansu Stream, Mansu 3 District, and the Seochang 2 District area in Namdong-gu, Incheon. There’s no admission fee; busking and local artist performances, photo zones, and various lighting installations make up the core.
I felt the charm of the festival lies in “moments shared for free.” Laughter and camera shutters popped up here and there among the crowd, and children chased one another in the shadows cast by the lights. The longer I stayed, the more the light’s subtle changes touched my mood, leaving a gentle, lingering excitement. For weekend visits, I recommend public transit. The main photo spots show different moods right after lights-on and after 20:00, so try capturing them in two rounds.
